I'm entering my sister in the car giveaway because I can't think of anybody who is more deserving and in need of a vehicle than her. My sister is 47 years old and is on dialysis, her kidneys only operate at 4%, she has no pancreas and is diabetic and has been since she was 15yrs.old. She's had 3 kidney transplants and 2 for her pancreas. After all those surgeries, each one ended up rejecting which caused her to get very sick each time as well. After her most recent kidney/pancreas transplant she was given anti-rejection medication for her new organs. Those medications really took a toll on her immune system and due to this she contracted histoplasmosis, which is a fungal disease that attacks your system and can be fatal. Once you have it, it's forever. In order to treat the histoplasmosis to save her life, the medication used to treat it would unfortunately kill the transplant. So now she has to take a prescription 2x a day for the rest of her life. She also has had to get her thyroid removed as well. So now, my sister has been on dialysis for 4 yrs and has had several surgeries on her arm during this time to make sure her arteries and veins stay clear of clots and blockages for her dialysis. She is in debt because of all her medical bills, she's not fully covered. She has been without a car for just about 5yrs now. Four times a week my sister has to walk to dialysis and it's 1.5 miles away which can be hard considering her blood pressure is so low and she is so weak after dialysis. Now that winter is here, it's extremely hard. Having a car would be an absolute blessing for her. My sister is unable to work given all her medical issues so she only gets disability every month which isn't even enough to cover her monthly bills. She would never be able to get a car otherwise, unless some miracle happened, which is exactly why i'm hoping she can win this. She wouldn't have to worry about getting to her appointments anymore, no more rescheduling or missing them all together because of transportation. She can go to the grocery store when she needs to and she can also help her daughter more with her grandson.
