I have been riding with PACE PARATRANSIT for nearly 10 years, and I really need a car.
I live in Harvey, Illinois in a subsidized apartment for seniors and disabled. I have multiple maladies that qualify me as disabled. Unfortunately, disability doesn’t give me enough to buy a car. I also am single with no family, so it leaves me with little to no social life. It also hampers my ability to make quick, short runs when I need to, or just want to.
I worship in the city, approximately 20 – 30 minutes away – BY CAR. For me to get to church for 9:00 a.m. I must leave home by 6 – 6:30 a.m. Then, when I leave church to go home, I leave at 2:00 p.m. and arrive home by 4 or 5. (The church bus is often not running, not to mention it never runs on time).
Having a car would give me the freedom to live as a single person should and allow me to do work at the church as I desire.
Please, please choose me. Yes, PACE is an option, but a very inconvenient choice for me.
